Personally i never had the opportunity to encounter a person suffering from breast cancer, but i know that there are people out there who are suffering from this illness. I heard friends and families talking about how this illness can destroy a person and make her life so hard to live.
One story that really touched me is that of a Mauritian girl around her 20s who just graduated and had so much plans for the future. That is when she discovered that she had breast cancer.
Her parents could see life leaving her body everyday and for her it was hard as she knew that no matter what, she would not be able to survive. Her mother said that it was hard for her daughter to accept that and move on but she did have the courage and the strong mentality to do it.
It is not easy to live when you are suffering from an illness and sometimes these people may think that they are a burden to their family or to the society. By running and fundraising, i want to assure them that they are loved and they won't be going through this alone.
"We have to be greater that what we suffer." -Gwen Stacy
I want to make every steps count towards hopefully a healthier Mauritius.
